Who are we?
The Academic Support team is part of the Pre-sessional English (PSE) team. We are experienced in helping students who are new to UK academic culture develop the language and study skills they need to successfully participate in their academic communities and achieve their full potential.
What do we do?
We work predominantly with international students, but our experience means that we are able to support any students who are at the start of their academic journey in UK Higher Education and who need a little extra support with getting to grips with it all. We support them in developing the skills, strategies and language they need to deal with academic genres and tasks of all types, including:
- Listening to lectures
- Participating in seminars
- Delivering academic presentations
- Reading complex academic texts
- Understanding assignment briefs
- Making a start on written assignments
