In the video below, Professor Sheena Gardner explains that there are many different types of report. The type of report you will be asked to write will depend on your discipline and the level at which you are studying.

We have developed two different sessions, ‘an introduction to report writing’ and ‘writing academic business reports’ so that you can choose the session that will suit you and your course of study best. Read about the two different sessions and sign up for them below:

An Introduction to Report Writing

What will I learn?

The introduction to reports session will offer a general overview of report writing features common across disciplines. In the lesson, you will:

  • critique examples of successful student academic reports
  • explore key features of reports
  • look at your own assignment brief and marking criteria and identify what you need to do to successfully respond to this brief.

What will I need in the lesson?

In the lesson, you should ensure you can access your:

  • report writing assignment brief
  • plans or drafts of your report writing assignment
  • Modules Information Directory (MID) or Module Guide
  • course resources on Aula

Is this lesson suitable for me and my level of study?

This lesson is suitable for you if:

  • you are new to UK HE and need further support with your academic language for report writing;
